This is our last stop during Earth Week 2010. The Great Chickasaw Nation has invited us to be the first documentary to screen in their new facility, and we are humbled by the invitation.

Tulsa’s independent theater screens TAR CREEK for a week at the end of February. Matt’ll be on hand for the opening night screening and will hold a Q&A after the show. Come join us in the big city.

TAR CREEK is coming back to its intellectual roots for this screening. I was a student at OSU when I first started working at the Tar Creek Superfund site. Watermelon Slim got his Master’s Degree here, as did Earl Hatley. My parents and sister got degrees here. Both my father-in-law and grandfather were VPs here, and my mother-in-law got her Master’s at OSU. Come see what we’ve learned. We’ll be there for a Q&A after the show. Blake Parks of ECO-OSU will be moderating the discussion, in case any of you get out of hand.

This is the Stillwater Premiere for TAR CREEK. The film was produced by Cara and Ron Beer, and they call this church home. We’re excited to be able to show their congregation just what we’ve been working on for the last three years. Tanya, Cara, Ron and Matt will hold a Q&A after the screening.

Tar Creek is being featured as part of the Opening Night ceremonies of the Artivist Film Festival. We pulled the small theater, so it is going to get loud in there. Come hear us make some noise.

October 2 through October 8, 2009, the Center Theatre in Vinita, OK shows TAR CREEK ’round the clock: 400pm, 700pm, and 900pm, with 130pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday. Local legend and star of the film Pat Waddle on hand to answer any and all questions about mining.

TAR CREEK will be shown during the Tar Creek Conference. This is the area premiere and should provide for a lively discussion after the film.

The Oklahoma Premiere for TAR CREEK was at the Southern Winds Film Festival in Shawnee, OK, just east of OKC. The venue was the historic Hornbeck Theater just north of Main. TAR CREEK was awarded both Festival Director’s Choice and Audience Choice Awards.

Please come join us for the Tar Creek Premiere! Following the film, Blues Legend Watermelon Slim–whose music is featured in the film–will play for a while. Doors will open at 700, and we’ll fire up the show at 730. I’m nervous and excited for the first eyes to see this. We’re going to party back at the Myers Ranch after the show, so get some rest. Word is that Slim doesn’t need sleep.
